- Age 44, divorced, two kids, runs family business
- New competitive pressure on his printing business
- Looking for ways to react
- Takes an aggressive approach
Brian's company, Huron Printing, was facing new competition: PressCom. "I've got to be honest," he said to his friend John, "it feels like a losing battle." "I know, Brian," said John, "but you've got to push back ... rise to the challenge." "PressCom is using digital processing equipment," said Brian. "I can't afford that kind of investment!" "But you also can't let yourself get left behind technologically," said John. John told about how a small-business advisor had convinced him to take out a loan and upgrade his own equipment. Now, only two years later, his business had doubled, and the loan was almost paid off. "Maybe I should talk with this advisor ..., said Brian "I'll be happy to introduce you to Tim," said John.
